Sneak Peek, News and Updates!

These wreaths and swags and hopefully more, will be heading into my etsy shop shortly. :)

I have been creating like a maniac as of late. Which makes me behind in all other affairs, home, life, correspondence and of course, blog reading! Am hoping to catch up with everything soon.
There just always seems to be so much going on.
I guess that is just life. :)

I finished up a custom order recently and totally forgot to take a picture. Well, I remembered after I had it all packed up. Oh, well! lol

I joined up with the Christmas swap on Caterina's blog. She runs the best swaps. :) Just mailed out my swap to Flor, so tickled to have her as my partner. I hope she likes what I have sent her. You have to wait until Christmas to see the results of the swap. :)

I want to show you what I recently received in the mail, but first, I have to share with you this little guy.
The stories get related, don't worry. ;)

I don't think I ever shared with you all our latest addition to our family.
This is our little Tommy.

A feral kitten found abandoned by the side of our house. We discovered him on probably the hottest day of the year, back in July and I bottle fed him since he was four weeks old.

Here he is more recently.

That he discovered the light box and feels so comfy in there should have been a heads up for me.

Here is the basket that Sans! sent to me, she wove this herself and I have to tell you how adorable and how well made it is. She never ceases to amaze me with her creativity. :)  Thank you, Sans!!!

I made the mistake of leaving the little basket in the light box as a reminder to take a picture of it to share with you all. Then, I discovered it's absence. Yes, Tommy had scooted off with it. I looked every where around the house. I almost cried. The basket was very special to me because of who made it, that they made it for me and a basket itself is almost a symbol of friendship. Woven together.

Don't worry! The story has a happy ending.! My son found it the next day. Tommy had scooted it under his bedroom door. I woke to a little basket being dangled in front of my eyes and I gave my boy a big hug and a kiss. :)

Fourth of July Completed Projects!

Finally! Pictures of the completed projects for the custom order I have been working on. :)
And, I just got an email from my customer, she got her package today and is very excited to say the least.

Old fashioned 4th of July bunting for across the porch railings.

Some kitchen towels. I didn't know whether she wanted tea towels or regular towels, so I made both and gave her, her choice. She took two of each.

Notice both sets of towels are trimmed with fabric used on other items.

A complete miniature bib apron to hang in the kitchen from a hook.

A new cushion for the high chair so it is all coordinated.

Kitchen chair cushions.
Oh, when I get tired it comes out chicken care cushions, lol. :)
I made four of these.

Cushions for the rocker, along with an accent pillow.
I made four of these as well.

A custom table cloth, notice the white checked fabric ties in all of the other checks and plaids.
I ended up making this twice as the first one was just a hair too short and you could see the skirting under the table. The more I thought about it, the more it bugged me, so, I did it again and I think it's pretty cute, if I do say so myself. :)
My absolute favorite pieces of the whole project.
The porch swing.
Yes, that cushion is tufted, it really looks like it could be full scale, don't you think?
Originally, I had a different striped fabric, but ran across this one, that is much more to scale.

Okay, so sometimes my perfectionism drives me nuts, but it does pay off when it comes to making miniatures.

My customer is so happy! I have to keep her around, she is marvelous for my ego. Yup, she has more work for me to do. She is the best customer ever! I could not have asked for a better customer for my first custom order experience. :)

She promises to send pictures of it all, all in place, so you will have to wait to see it.
I didn't show any pictures of the swags and rosettes, as you really need to see them in their setting to fully appreciate them.

Next time, another little custom order I just did. :)
I'm liking this custom stuff. :)

Dollhouse Miniatures Custom Order Fourth of July Celebration

For the last month, most of my "free" time has been consumed with a custom order.

This has been the most fun! Challenging at times, as all minis can be at times, but, for the most part, the most rewarding experience.

I found out about the request from Small Stuff Digest. If you are not familiar with it, it is an email that comes every few days or so and is like a forum. People post and others answer and it all comes to your email. http://smallstuff-digest.com

This was the picture that caught my eye.

The request was for some sewing help, specifically bunting, which the picture was necessary as not everyone knows what bunting is. (Bunting in other countries is also another thing, as I have found out along the way).

But, not just bunting, also chair cushions and pillows. This was right up my alley!

And, the picture was so inspiring. This, I can do, I thought to myself and hurriedly dashed off my reply, hoping I'd be one of the first to answer the request.

More next time,
dale
