Some more diversion from Winter and the Best Part!

No scrolling to the end to see the best part! lol ;)

Next we were in Key Largo and our room opened up to the water and dock.

Our room.

Sunset on the water.

That is Route 1 there in the background.

The resort across the way.

Party boat!

A tiny little beach.

Gilbert's Resort

Oh, No!!!!!!

Breakfast with the locals. I had my most favorite Southern breakfast. Sausage, biscuits, and gravy. :)

 Shell World! Yes! :)

and back on the road again! Look at the color! I love it.

"Bienvenido a Miami"

Cruise ship!

 Palm trees on roof tops.

Miami Beach.

I was completely smitten.

A quick trek down to the Atlantic Ocean and I stuck my toes in the water. Not cold.

The beach is on one side of the road and the city is on the other.

Miami Beach is known for it's Art Deco architecture.

Hubby wanted to stop in the Art Deco Museum Gift Shop. I was just like, okay.....

And, then I found this! Oh, my  goodness!!! Glad I snapped this picture so quickly, no photography was allowed. This was the best part of the entire trip.

Next it was Cuban sandwiches at Larios. I have made these same folded napkins in miniature. That just struck me as funny.

Talk about "green" buildings. ;)

Cool tree.

Back to the airport.

The best part about going away, is going back home again. Relaxed and inspired.

So, you wanna see what I brought home with me?

From Shell World of course, I bought some shells. See what a frugal purchase that was? One can never have too many shells.

And, the best of the best, the creme de la creme,

Pièce de résistance

Frugality was promptly thrown out the window.
You know I grabbed that middle chair first and mostly because of it's rose colored seat.

While I did splurge, I was still practical. I could have purchased any three pieces, like the round chair or the lip couch... but, I knew I would get the most use out of these pieces.

I am so in love with them and they have proved to not only be inspiring, but also motivating.

Thanks for letting me bore you with my vacation photos. :)

  1. Nice trip, beautiful photos!
    The furniture are amazing!

    1. Thanks so much, Eliana! I have to agree on both points. :)

  2. Wonderful pictures Thank you for sharing Miami looks like a fantastic place. Your buys are fantastic. I love the sofa.
    Hugs Maria

    1. Thank you so much, Maria! We wizzed by Miami pretty quickly. I adore Miami beach and could be beckoned back there rather quickly.

I love the couch too, so inspiring! :)

  3. Hi Dale,

Looks like you had fun. I love your purchases.

I could send you pics of our snow covered yard if you like ... talk about boring!

    1. Oh, Tom, it is so good to hear from you! How are you doing?

I would love to see pictures of your snow. In the past few years we've had snow three feet high for endless amounts of time, this year not so much. ;)

I like snow from the inside out. :)

  4. Ahhh... another pack of tissues gone but again, this was worth it... so many beautiful and inspiring photos. And let me tell you: I really admire you, you are such a strong woman. You were able to resist all these temptations at Shell World and the Art Deco Shop and came home only with these few souvenirs! Very brave! Yeah!!! Have fun with these treasures - and the best part, they are not only gorgeous, but they will always remind you of this wonderful trip!

    1. *Hands Birgit the whole box of tissues* ;)

      Thank you so much!
lol, those are the only treasures I shared with you all, I did bring back a bit more than that, just didn't think it would be of much interest to you all.

Yes, I will always remember where I got these treasures. :)

  5. More beautiful photos. The perfect place for a relaxing break. Your comment about the miniatures shop made me laugh. When I find such a shop during my travels I tend to react like you. I love what you bought.

    1. Geneviève, thank you! It was nice and relaxing. Buying the minis was the best part! :)

  6. I KNOW you did this post especially for ME! Love the photos! You even added a little flamingo! LOL
NOW you know why I miss Florida so much.
    Sigh... "Home Sweet Home!"
That "cool" tree you showed is a Banyan tree. I love them too!
Thanks for sharing your vacation with us. I really enjoyed your trip!

    1. I did Kathi, it was all just for you. ;) lol

That flamingo demanded to have his photo taken, I tell you.

I have been to Florida before and wasn't really impressed, Miami Beach sold me instantly!

Thank you for telling me the name of the tree. Often when we travel, I do look for certain trees! Tree hugger from way back.

Thank you for leaving such a lovely comment. :)

  7. ¡Dios mio Dale!!! Que ganas de estar en cada una de donde tomaste tus fotos....Hermoso!!! Y me urgen vacaciones!!!! S = Jejeje
    Un abrazo

    1. ¡Oh, Flor era tan hermosa. Creo que todos deberían ir de vacaciones cada pocos meses. Si sólo fuera posible! :)

My new minis sent me on a creating binge, I loved it, so inspiring. :)

  9. Dale! Fantastic shopping! Why oh why I live sooooooooooooooo far away???
Thank you for sharing your wonderful trip!
And you are so right! The best part of traveling is going back home!;D

    1. Ewa, you have to add traveling to your reportoire, there is a place for you here.

I am so glad you enjoyed the pics. :)

But as much as I love traveling, it opens your eyes to new experiences and new things, it also makes you appreciate what you have; home. :)

  10. Oh, Dale... NOT BORED!!!!
Beautiful pics! I have once or twice put my toes in the Atlantic in Miami in the Winter.... the locals think you're nuts!
I would SO buy those chairs!!! Does the Museum have any idea what a Treasure Trove they have???
I'm glad you shared your Vacation!

    1. Thank you so much, Daydreamer! :)

      I was worried. ;)

Who cares what the locals think. ;)

I dunno about the museum, I asked the gal, what scale are these in? She said, Oh, I used to know! I'm like 1/12th? She was like, yes sounds about right! :)
